Community

We are a part of the Mitcham Community, and make good our promise of service.

As Baden-Powell reminded us, 'happiness is not mere pleasure, not the outcome of wealth. It is the result of active work rather than passive enjoyment of pleasure'.

The adults, parents, and youth at 1st Mitcham Scout Group aim to bring meaning via service to our community. Through giving back to the Mitcham Community, we found happiness is open to all, since, when you boil it down, it merely consists of contentment with what you have got and doing what you can for other people.

Mitcham Community Meals

A stable roof over their head, or the ability to afford a good meal, is not enjoyed by all in our community. In conjunction with Mitcham Community Meals, 1st Mitcham Scout Group often assists in catering and cooking at the Mitcham Uniting Church.

Christmas Trees

Not only do all the profits from our Christmas Tree Sale goes back into the 1st Mitcham Scout Group, so we can resource the running of our group, but they also bring joy to many families who seek an environmentally friendly option to celebrate the season.

First Aid Training

Be Prepared, is the scout motto, and first aid training is the ultimate manifestation of this. Hopefully, no one will need it, but every 1st Mitcham Leader, Scout and Venturer in the community are first aid trained to industry standards via Fawkes First Aid.
