Survival Skills and Bushcraft Camp

1st Mitcham and 1st Wheelers Hill Scout Groups invite youth to an immersive experience, learning survival skills in a safe and exciting environment.

Survival and Bushcraft Camp – 1st Mitcham and 1st Wheelers Hill Scout Groups invite scouts from other groups to attend our annual Survival Skills and Bushcraft training Camp.

Location - Dallas Brooks Scout Park - Beaconsfield Upper, Victoria (https://www.dbpark.com.au/)

 

Transportation -Please arrange your own transportation to and from the site

  • Planning and training activities commence at 8:00pm Friday 8th

  • Survival and Bushcraft activities

    • commence at 9:00am Saturday 9th, and

    • conclude at 12 Noon Sunday 10th August

Catering - The camp is fully catered for scouts and attending leaders.  Please inform us of dietary requirements.

​

Cost - $50 covers accommodation, catering, and activities.

​

Itinerary and Activities

  • Build and sleep in bush shelter big enough for 3 scouts.

  • Purify water to be safe enough to drink.

  • Fire lighting using

    • flints,

    • mirrors, and

    • friction.

  • Smoke and preserve

    • Fish, and

    • meats.

  • Make camp tools and furniture, without nails or ropes.

  • Read the

    • clouds,

    • sky and

    • weather.

  • Celestial navigation and astronomy.

Accommodation:

Scouts are encouraged to sleep in the shelter they built, but scouts are also expected to bring and erect tents.

  • In the event of storm, scouts have access to indoor accommodation.
